ABOUT SMART METERS
HOW TO USE THE SMART METERS

There are three payment options:

  1. Visa and MasterCard credit and debit cards
    • Slide the card into the slot and push the plus button (+) to increase the time or the minus button ( - ) to decrease the time displayed.
    • If a mistake is made, press the cancel button.
    • A receipt will not be printed, but the meter will beep when the transaction is complete.
    • There are no transaction fees to the customer, however, a minimum of $1 must be charged.
  2. Smart Cards
    • Insert the card with the chip facing up.
    • Meter will first display remaining card value.
    • Time will be added in $0.25 increments.
    • Remove card immediately when desired time is reached.
  3. Coins
    • Insert the amount of coins desired for the visit.
    • The meter will display the amount of time purchased.

REMEMBER - Money can be added to extend the time on the meter unless the maximum amount of time has been purchased, then it is necessary to move your vehicle to another space!

WHERE ARE SMART METERS?
4,500 Smart Meters are installed throughout Denver. The Smart Meters will replace Denver’s older, traditional parking meters. Not all meters in Denver will transition to Smart Meters; around 15% of the original meters will remain in areas where the character has changed and metered parking is being re-evaluated. Kiosks will not be included in the current transition to Smart Meters.
